Hi there, I have a question: how can I reduce the seats?

Hello, We currently have 3 paid managed user accounts in Box.One of our managed users has left the company, and we need to transfer all folders and contents from that user to a new employee. However, the new employee is currently an external user, so the account does not have enough storage capacity to receive all the transferred files and folders. At the moment, we cannot complete the content transfer unless the new employee is converted to a managed user. However, adding the new employee as a managed user would temporarily increase the total number of managed users to 4, while we are currently paying for only 3 managed user accounts.Since the content transfer has not yet been completed, we are also unable to delete the former employee’s managed user account. Please advise on the best way to proceed in this situation. Thank you.Elin

As the Administrator within BOX, I own all of the data on the environment. If a file is “locked” because of a password or a glitch that prevents users from editing (says the file is open by someone else) even though they have editing permissions, is there a way for me to clear the lock or remove this restriction. This is something you could do on a basic windows environment by clearing the open files but cannot do it on BOX. Any help is appreciated.

I am trying to add user and I have seats available. However, Box wants to charge me everytime I add a user even though I have seats available. What is the fix here?

Has anyone found a way to report on consumption in a meaningful way, what I would like to see is which users and which parts of box have used units so that we can identify adopters and higher cost activities.

Hi everyone,I am a former administrator of a Box Business Plus plan.I am looking for a solution regarding a specific user who can neither sign up for a free account nor sign in due to an email error. I was referred to this community by Box Support, so I am posting here in hopes of finding some guidance.Any insights or advice would be greatly appreciated.[Background] We canceled our Business Plus plan a while ago. After cancellation, some users reported they couldn't log in. Since the tenant (enterprise organization) hadn't been fully deleted yet, we contacted Box Support at the time, and they performed a full tenant deletion for us. Right after that, those users reported they could successfully log in as free accounts, and the issue seemed to be resolved. [Current Issue]Recently, another user (who was also a member of our former enterprise tenant) reported that they cannot log in.I advised them to sign up for a new free account. However, whether they try to sign up or sign in, they

Hi,I am facing a challenge using Box Automate/Relay:I have a main folder with about 200 subfolders. Documents are regularly uploaded into these subfolders by various users. My goal is to automate the following process:Whenever a new document is added to any of the subfolders, it should automatically be moved (and renamed, according to a pattern) into a single central folder. So far, I have found that Box Automate and Relay only seem to trigger workflows on top-level folders, not their subfolders. Is it possible to monitor or trigger automation for subfolders with Box Automate, maybe by using loops or a workaround? Any help or experiences would be greatly appreciated! Thanks,Yasemin

Got a real screwball of a question and im hoping someone can assist as any leads to Box’s support have gone cold. I work for an MSP managing a client, who had an out-of-band box account, which- in an unfortunate series of events, had their aforenoted account seized in a security incident. Now it appears we cannot change the password as the primary email has been changed. Is there anything that can be done about this?

I remember that some files were saved in Box, but now I can’t find them.I would like to know:1. Who deleted the files2. Whether the deleted files can be restoredCould you please let me know how to check the deletion history and restore the files?I am not a Box admin, but I would like to know whether an admin can check who deleted the files and restore them. I am not currently an admin, but would it be possible to request co-admin access from the administrator? If so, could you please advise how I should contact the admin or submit the request?

I have an auto-renewal per month with Box.com that a client wants me to use with them.  I’ve now learned that there will be random months where I won’t have to use it.  Can I suspend the account and re-activate it when I need to use it?

We recently reorganized our organizational structure and now need to update our Box accounts to reflect that change. How do I move members from one group to another without deleting them first? Is there a way to do a bulk transfer?

Hi! I have worked to update our enterprise settings to make it possible for external folks to have edit access without logging in. It does not currently seem possible. Please let me know what else I should look at. I am sorry, I know others have had similar questions but I am not sure I have seen the outcome I am looking for. Thanks,Kaid

Hi Box Support Team,I am hoping you can clarify how folder permission inheritance works in Box, and whether there are any options I may have missed. Our setup:- We have a Tier 1 parent folder: AMOGY - E&R Management Team- Inside it we have Tier 2 subfolders including: 02 - Budget- Inside 02 - Budget we have a Tier 3 subfolder: May 2026 ERO Budget24 people currently have collaboration access to the Tier 1 parent folder, which means they inherit access all the way down to the May 2026 ERO Budget folder.I need to restrict the May 2026 ERO Budget folder to only a small subset of those 24 people. My specific questions:1. Is there any native Box feature that allows me to block or restrict inherited permissions at a subfolder or file level — without moving the content out of the parent folder hierarchy?2. If not, is this possible through any Box Admin console settings or enterprise-level controls?3. Is the only solution to move the restricted folder outside the parent hierarchy and reshare

Can this information be sent to me, please?

Hello, Unfortunately I have an outstanding invoice as my credit card has changed,Unfortunately, I always get this error when I try to update my card at https://app.box.com/update. An error has occurred while processing your enquiry. We were unable to process your enquiry. Please check that all fields are filled in correctly and try again, or visit support.box.com for further assistance. I have also sent an e-mail to billing@box.com twice without success.

We want to give our users a means of clicking a button (relay/workflow?) or adding custom documents to the “New” Menu where they can click a button and essentially get a copy of a company branded document. We want to use this so users can say, “hey, I need a document labeled at Internal/Proprietary”… without them having to reinvent the wheel everytime. In SharePoint you would create a custom template and add it to the “New” menu in there.  I have yet to find an effective way to do this in box.

Hi Community,I was exploring Box Automate and noticed the new AI Agents/Automate Builder features shown in the latest Box documentation and community posts (such as Extract Agent, Box Agent, HTTPS Request, advanced workflow builder, etc.).Currently, I’m unable to see these options in our tenant. Could you please help confirm:Whether these features are available for our account/plan If any beta or early-access enablement is required Whether Box AI / AI Agents can be enabled for our environment If there are any admin settings or permissions needed to access these workflow capabilitiesOur use case is to automate workflows like:File Upload → AI Summary/Extraction → Slack Notification/API Actions. Please let me know the process to enable or request access for these features. Thanks!

Hello,I would like our users to be able to register a security key next to their authenticator app for 2FA purposes. Is there an admin setting which allows registering multiple 2FA options or is this limited to only a single method/type?Thank you,Rene

My access is under AEC collection only.  I cannot upload files in cloud having AEC collection license only.  I tried Forma Build 30-day trial and I was able to upload files such as Navisworks nwd file.  Is there a way to upload nwd file to cloud even if my account is set as Admin of Autodesk software with AEC collection licenses?

I apprecaite that ths question has been asked before and I have given it several days before trying to add again. As part of the broader rollout of the updated Box Drive for Windows — a ground-up rebuild of Box Drive built on native Windows OS APIs — we want to make sure no one on Arm-based Windows devices misses out. Box Drive is now fully supported on Arm Windows with no special configuration required. If your organization has users on Arm hardware (Surface Pro X, Snapdragon-powered laptops, and similar devices), this is your chance to make sure they all now have access to Box Drive. The new Box Drive for Windows brings meaningful improvements: deeper File Explorer integration with richer sync status icons, a native Windows context menu, Known Folder Redirection support via GPO, the ability to mark individual files (not just folders) for offline access, and better local storage management through explicit file unpinning. Arm Windows support is part of this same architectural leap, meaning Arm device users get the full, modern Box Drive experience alongside everyone else. Now is a great time to ve
