I have a strange intermittent issue. I currently use a Macbook and saving to a folder which syncs box to the cloud. I found some files are missing but was certain it was uploaded to the cloud. I though I was imagining but yesteday again. I saved a file from Adobe InDesign to a folder. Closed it and was gone. We had to go back and re-create all that work. Kindly advise if you can investigate the issue. It is worrying for me as if my files are going missing without my knowlegde. I wont even know what old work is missing until I hunt and see its gone. I really need to know as if Box cannot provide a solution. I will have to migrate my stuff to another service.
We have suddenly noticed that Downloading files via the web interface is not working on any files, and our public Shared Links are prompting users who view it to sign in. I don’t see anything on the status page indicating an ongoing incident. Is anyone else currently experiencing the same thing?
During BoxWorks 2024, we explored key concepts such as metadata extraction, forms, Doc Gen, and Box Apps—essential tools for streamlining your content processes.Julia Benivegna, Senior Solutions Engineer at Box, provided an excellent demo on how these elements work together to enhance your content-centric workflows, making it easier to manage, organize, and automate your documents and data efficiently. ➡ Watch Julia’s Keynote Demo ⬅ Missed BoxWorks full keynote and product announcements? Some of our files are showing dates in the future; i.e. 2101.
Hi team- should an admin be able to view a user's trash items in the content manager if the user deleted the file(s)? We've confirmed that an admin can see the trashed files under the owner's account (in the content manager) but not under the user who deleted them. Any ideas why this might be or is this not expected functionality?
Hello, I would like to do the following and am looking for process advice/feasibilityCreate and share a spreadsheet in box, send it to someone outside my organization, have them be able to open it in excel online and enter data I’ve tested this and some people can edit the doc and some cannot and are asked to create a login, I don’t know why the difference Does this have price implications for by box account for any reason? Is it possible to turn off the option to open in google sheets so as not to cause confusion (this would disrupt existing formulas in the spreadsheet)
Hello Community, How do you manage files and folders belonging to teams / projects / departments that need to survive beyond individual employment and its ownership? GCP has a concept of “Shared Folders.” It changes permission and ownership to become “Manager” instead of owner. I am not sure if there is a way in BOX to do this clear cut and straight forward.I apologize if there is another thread already discussing this concept. Please point me to a way to a solution.Thanks.
When I try to edit a spreadsheet in Box, I get the following message:"You need a Google Workspace account to edit work files."I have a Google Workspace Business Starter subscription. Even when I log in to Google and try to open it, I get the same error and can't open the spreadsheet.Could you please provide a solution?
Is it possible to block IP addresses for accessing our Box environment? I know through Shield we can set up alerts based on IP location, but not a specific IP address (at least to my knowledge).
We have been on Box for almost 8 years and have around 275TB of data and shuffle around 8.5TB/month. Much of that is legacy data archived on service accounts and files with many versions no longer relevant. Keynote collaboration for example saves hundreds if not thousands of versions of our files as we build decks...but we’re not reverting or looking at hundreds of versions of files that were presented 5 years ago. I’ve written a script to prune out old versions and will leave behind the 3 most recent versions plus 7 additional versions spaced out over the file’s life. In this way, I can find an archive folder with data many years old, provide that to my script, let it search, sort, and remove the excess data no longer needed. Other than reducing extra junk on the platform, will removing unneeded data (most of which is not visible to many users and stored only in service accounts for archival purposes) improve the performance on Box? Specifically navigation and search. Is it better to
Is Content Delivery Network (CDN) being used in Box? When I upload any file in any folder in Box, does it get cached all across the world and the user who downloads the file gets it from his/her nearest location (and therefore reduces the latency to a great extent) ? If that is so, it would be great if you can direct me to the right box documentation area / link.
When you add or open a file in Box Drive, Box copies the file into the Drive cache folder, which creates a local copy of the file. Box has also confirmed that this cache folder is not encrypted. If you work for an organization that must keep sensitive data off of local machines, what is your work around? We thought using only the Box Online option and restricting Box Drive usage was an option but all files still open locally. The entire purpose of Box is to eliminate the need for sensitive data to be saved on local machines, but because of how the cache folder operates, that is not possible.
I added a new user and they aren”t getting the activation email. Have tried multiple times.
Managed Users email address no longer a valid email address. Tried to update but input new email incorreclty and it is still waitng for verification. Went to edit with correct email address and receive a message stating that an account already exists for that email. How do I fix the primary email address?
We keep having problems with users using Box Drive on Windows who forget what folders they are allowed to save files to. E.g. they edit a file in, or save a file to, a folder that they only have viewer access to. The file IS saved, and Box does flag an error, but most users don’t understand the error and/or ignore it. The file is resident on the local disk of that user but it is not uploaded to the Box cloud, not available to others, etc.It would be helpful if the write permission to such a folder was denied, i.e. if the user were to get an error on the save that said “you can’t write here”, then they’d be aware of the error and could go and save their file wherever it is that they are supposed to be putting it. Is there any way to do this using the permissions in Box Drive? Question for both Windows or MAC. Thank you for any suggestions!
Hi! We’ve been having upload failures for the past 7+ days. The Box support team has confirmed that the Box Engineering team has identified that the problems are caused by recent changes made by Box. I’m sure they are working diligently to fix the problem, but am wondering if anyone in the community has identified any workarounds. Thanks for any ideas . . .
I have a question regarding access restrictions in Box. We would like to control the devices used by external collaborators. Is it possible to configure the restriction for both general PCs and thin clients?Thank you in advance for your support.
Hi all! Is there a way for a Box folder to sync with our Google groups? We heavily use email groups at our organization. When we add members to a Google group, it would be helpful to automatically add them to a box folder, but I don't know if this is possible. Has anyone accomplished this before?
At Box, we understand how crucial your content is, and we are committed to ensuring its security. 🔐⚙ Multi-factor authentication (MFA) is one of the most powerful tools available to admins for verifying user identity and securing access to content. MFA is a security mechanism in which users must provide two or more pieces of evidence, or factors, before being granted access to a product or service, such as Box. If your organization does not use single sign-on (SSO) for authentication, Box allows users to set up two-factor authentication (2FA) for their accounts. The first factor is a password, and the second factor is a one-time password (OTP). You can choose from authenticator apps, SMS, or email for the second factor. 🔴 SMS 📲A short message service, the text messaging you use on your phone, and receives one-time passwords created from a secure random generator. 🔴 Authenticator apps 🔐🔢Generate unique one-time passwords (OTPs) using algorithms, with each password expiring after a

How does Box Hubs interact with a user’s file permissions? For example, would a user see/interact with a file if they aren’t invited to the Hub already?
I can’t login it says the following:“We found an issue with your accountGoing forward, Box will require that your Google account address matches your Box account address.” None of the login paths work - google email isn’t connected to the account and my personal email is giving this error. I can’t even login to contact support. Password reset doesn’t work. At this point I just want to login to delete my account. Could you please help? Thank you,Jiri
I had a power hit, my SYNOLOGY device running cloud sync dropped the connection to box. It now fails to re-authenticate - I get the following error. Windows received an HTTP error message: 403 (Forbidden) from "synooauth.synology.com" All other devices work just fine and I have double checked credentials and updated all drivers and restarted all devices.
Hello! We’re starting a clean-up exercise on our content, and we’d like to categorize content depending on last access date (content not accessed in last 12 months, 24 months, 5 years). The Files and Folders report includes last modified date but not last access date. Would there be a script we could use to generate the data we need or even better a way to get that through reports? We have 400 TB of content / 120 million files in case that has any bearing on the recommended option. Many thanks!
Is there a setup in Box that allows users with proper permissions to save data to their desktop? Box Sync use to perform this task perfectly; however, it no longer works.
