Now that Box Drive has “Mark for Offline” one might naively assume that feature essentially duplicates Box Sync. Not so!The different is *very* subtle, but worth knowing as you are going to lose this.protection when Box Sync goes away. Here it is: Box Sync will sync YOUR files on YOUR device to box.Box Drive will sync your files IN BOX to your device.Box Sync: YOU own the files and control access.Box Drive: BOX owns the files and controls access. The difference is you DEPEND on your Box subscription to access those files in Box Drive. You DO NOT NEED BOX to access those files in Box SYNC.So let’s say your credit card changes, and your Box subscription lapses. YOUR FILES ARE GONE (until you restore your subscription). With Box Sync you do not--they’re on your local drive.Let’s say you decide to end your Box subscription: YOU HAVE TO COPY YOUR FILES OUT BEFORE. With Box Sync you do not--they’re already on your local drive.Let’s say there’s a bug in Box, and altho you’re subscribed, they thin

I was asked to send my logs and in the final message, it said to create a support case. Would be good to have a box with a form to fill out to create a support case - it was hard to find this screen.

I’m trying to download a file that I created via the API, but keep getting an SSL error. Hi everybody,I have seen this query several times, but I can’t see a useable public reply? I set up an account which I didn’t use for a while, and in the meantime, changed my email provider and email address. I no longer have access to the old email address but have all the details of how to access it, and I would like to access the files on the old account. How can I do that? Thanks for any advice,Alan

Hi everyone,We noticed a strange issue with Box video preview. We uploaded the same video file (about 5MB) to two different folders:one for internal use one for external accessThe video plays smoothly in the internal folder, but in the external folder it just keeps spinning/buffering and won’t preview properly. We also tried uploading another small video file (about 1MB) from a different account, and that one also could not be previewed online.Since both files are very small, we’re wondering if this could be related to folder settings, permissions, or shared link settings.Has anyone seen this before or know what might cause it?Thanks!

We invited the user to create a Box account, but it appears they had previously registered with Box. They had set up two-factor authentication using SMS (mobile phone number), but since their phone number has changed, they are unable to receive the SMS and cannot log in.According to the help documentation, in this case, Support needs to remove the multi-factor authentication.Could you please assist with this request?Target user: [removed by moderator]

Hi All,Got a client that wants their files on box (previously sftp) and I've gotten the Box CLI to upload files to a folder and will be looking to schedule it on a weekly basis for the client.  I'm targeting the folder purely by folder ID using "box files:upload <filename> --parent-id <folder id>” in PowerShell (I know, gross!).The client has their box url branded but not sure how to handle it in the future if we have more clients wanting to use Box.  If the clients I need to post to each have their own branded Box URLs (e.g. cmpa.app.box.com/folder/111111, compb.app.box.com/folder/22222 etc).My question is: are folder IDs globally unique across all Box tenants (cmpa, cmpb, cmpc)? In other words, if I upload to folder ID 111111, is it guaranteed to land in that exact folder for client A regardless of whether I previously posted to Client B's 22222 folder with the same box account and token (via CLI)?Are the branded URLs purely cosmetic, with only the folder ID being conside

Copy is blocked to the target folder due to invalid privilege escalation: Unsuccessful HTTP status code receivedAs of yesterday, user is unable to select a document to attach to a Box Sign Request, where the file attaching functionality worked a day prior. User is an Editor in the file/folder selected. We have not changed permissions for anyone in the organization for over a week. Additionally user is unable to move files from one folder to another under the following circumstances, likely for the same reasons as above:Folder 1: user permissions assigned via Group, granted Editor privilegesFile within Folder 1 is requested to be copied/moved to Folder 2: user owns folder, so they have Owner privilegesError dialog pops up:You cannot move this item to the target destination because it leads to escalation of your privilege.

As users leave our org, we archive their data to an admin profile using the Admin option: (1) "Delete User" 2) "Transfer content and workflowss to another user”.After that we don’t want the data accessible by anyone that it was shared with though. We find that the data is still accessible after it’s moved, which is logical. What would be the best course of action to deny access? Before deleting the user + transfer content...Would it be to:Login to box.com as an Admin Go to the user content Login as the user Go to user Profile > Collaborators Remove collaborators one-by-one

Hi. When I try to log in to Box, it tells me my password has expired and I need to reset it. I clicked the link sent to my email to reset, successfully changed it, but then it takes me right back to the reset password screen and will not allow me to log in using the new password. This has happened multiple times. I’ve also tried going back to the home page and clicking log in again, but it takes me back to the reset password screen. Can you please assist?

I am employed by Love & Photos, I had my first wedding with them Saturday. I click on the link they gave me and they said my email was not a biz email so I used another ( [removed by moderator] ), my email attached to Love&Photos is [removed by moderator] Anyways, I then had to upgrade for more space. L&P should not need more space, it is unlimited. They said I should contact you and ask for a refund. But not I am trying to upload my images and it is complete but on their end they do not see any, can you help, on my end it says I have over 2000 images sent....SO two questions, can I get a refund and secondly why can’t they see the images on their end.*Title updated from “not seen on other end” to a more descriptive title for clarity.

We have a Box Co-Admin account with the following permissions enabled: Manage Users Manage Groups View Users' Content Edit Users' Content Log into Users' Account The Co-Admin can successfully impersonate regular managed users using the As-User API.The same Co-Admin can also view another Co-Admin's files and folders through the Content Manager functionality in the Box Admin Console. However, when attempting to access the other Co-Admin's content using the As-User header, the API returns HTTP 403 Forbidden.Questions: Is Co-Admin to Co-Admin impersonation supported through the As-User API? Is the 403 response expected behavior? If Content Manager can view another Co-Admin's content, is there a public API equivalent to Content Manager? Is there a supported way to programmatically access another Co-Admin's content for migration purposes? Any documentation references would be appreciated.

I have a business account in Box.  I upload my document to Box and insert the signature fields with the person designated to sign.  When I click “Send Request”, it appears to start the process but then the request is not submitted.  The document remains on the page - there is no error message and no indication that my browser blocked the request.  I checked the requests folder and the sign request has not been added to the folder.  I have cleared my browser cache and tried it in another browser, but still cannot send the signature request.   Is this an issue with Box.com today?  I have not had this issue before. Thanks!

We are building a web-based LLM platform (similar to Claude and ChatGPT) and are planning to integrate with Box via MCP (Model Context Protocol). We have noted that Box hosts a remote MCP server at https://mcp.box.com and would like to proceed with the integration. Before doing so, we have a few prerequisite questions:1. MCP Integration Prerequisites: What are the prerequisites to integrate with Box's MCP server? Is registration or access approval required before connecting?2. Redirect URL / Whitelist Requirement: For OAuth-based MCP authentication, do we need to register or whitelist any redirect URLs on your end? If yes, where do we submit or register them?3. Marketplace / App Listing: We noticed your integrations page at Box MCP Server - https://developer.box.com/guides/box-mcp#platform-setup-guides, where tools like Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and Cursor are listed as MCP-compatible integrations. Since our product is a similar LLM platform, we would like to explore getting

Hi, I am facing quite a major issue. I recently upgraded from Box Sync to Box Drive. It is important for me to have my Box files saved locally so I can use them without an internet connection, while still having them synced to the cloud in case I need remote access. However, it seems Box Drive does not retain locally saved files. When I download files locally by clicking the cloud icon with a downward arrow, they do download successfully. But when I restart my Mac, the files are gone and I have to download them again (by clicking on the cloud icon with a downward arrow again). I am running macOS Sonoma 14.Could you please fix this issue urgently? Or is this the expected behavior? If this is expected behavior, then Box does not work for me anymore and I will need to move to another provider.
