Enterprise standard edition, HIPAA compliant enviroment. Workflow is external Collaborators are emailing attachments to a folder however, outlook encrypted emails are coming in a *.rpmsg and we can not access the attachment. Seems odd that the email-to-folder workflow wouldn’t work for the most popular email client on the planet. What am I missing?
Hi
Based on information from the Microsoft Community, these files are Rights-Managed Email (RME) messages, commonly used to protect sensitive information by restricting access or actions like forwarding, copying, or printing. Instead of a plain text, e-mails via RPMSG files are sent with content encrypted and stored as encrypted file attachment.
You can open the .rpmsg file within Outlook or the Outlook Web App. Make sure you have the necessary permissions to view the protected message. Usually, the sender sets the permissions for the recipient to view. If you don't have the required permissions, you may need to contact the sender and ask them to assign you the appropriate permissions/access.
Since this is related to Microsoft, I recommend reaching out to Microsoft Support for further assistance. If you need help with your Box account, please continue working with our Support Team on the ticket you've submitted.
Hope this helps! Have a great day!
