How to join private beta of Box Drive with ARM support (Cloud Files)

Box Drive Cloud Files is a new version of Box Drive on Windows that uses the native Cloud Files API as its underlying file system architecture. This will in the future enable features like folder redirection, ARM device support, better performance and reliability improvements.

In order to join the private beta and start using the Box Drive beta build, your administrator must sign the MBA first. You have two options to accomplish this:

  1. For a faster and more direct approach, reach out to your administrator directly so they can contact the account team to have the MBA sent and signed.
  2. Submit the request here: https://forms.gle/n7FZm68Jjmskdp218 and we will facilitate the process.

After this, we will send detailed instructions on how to enable this for beta users.

Thank you for your interest in beta testing Box Drive!

I am an administrator where I can enable the beta version so I can have my office downloaded in their new surface pro 11. We have a big problem we purchase 20 surface pro 11 and can't use Box Drive

I can’t believe that this has been in beta for years now. I’ve seen posts from 2020 about this and it still hasn’t been pushed to the actual program!

I also have surface pros I need to incorporate in my inventory and I know box reps always push using the web interface, but it’s crap compared to the ease of just going to your desktop and navigating to a folder.

device support should be the highest priority for a software developer. but for box this feels frustratingly ignored in lieu of other “features” no one needs. STOP FOCUSING ON USELESS AI INTEGRATION and focus on a feature that people are basically screaming for over almost anything else!

I shouldn’t have to sign up for the private beta testing any longer. it’s been in private beta for what seems like years! it shouldn’t be in beta anymore by this point! But, at least there really should be a public beta at this point where if people want/need box drive on their arm device then they can go download it. Or, as the admin, in the dashboard there should literally just be a toggle somewhere to say, allow licensed users to download the beta for arm devices or something like that.

📢 Dear Community Members,

After coordinating with our internal team, as this is a private beta, the number of participants is limited. Due to the high volume of requests, we are unable to process all applications at this time. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

However, we have some exciting news for you! We are approaching the public beta for ARM devices, where the process will be simplified. Although the exact date is not yet confirmed, we are targeting a release within this quarter. We’ ll keep you updated as soon as sign-ups are available or if there are any changes.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We wish you a wonderful day! 💙

Best,

The Box Community Team

Hi Jey, thank you for the update, I too have filled out the beta access form, several times, and am deeply  frustrated I can’t use Box on my otherwise-spectacular Surface Laptop 7th Edition with the Snapdragon Elite chip.

I note your comment you are targeting to release a public beta ‘this quarter’, which as at March 10 has three weeks left in it...

👋 Dear @gethen, welcome to the Box Community!

I completely understand your frustration and how eager you are to access the beta program on your laptop. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused you and truly appreciate your patience.

Our team is working hard to release the public beta as soon as possible, and we’re still on track to meet our target for this quarter, aiming for a release in the next 2–3 weeks. If there are any updates or additional details, I’ll be sure to keep everyone posted.

Thank you again for your patience and for being a valued part of the Box community! 💙
