Was working with Mojave at work and the desktop icon worked perfectly to use with Box; once we upgraded to Big Sur, the box desktop drive on desktop disappeared.

I already:

  • removed box with Terminal

  • Removed the box app with AppCleaner

  • Reinstalled Fresh

I did all of the above, and the desktop drive still does not appear?

Hi Paul,

Welcome to the Box Community!

The changes you noticed with the location of Box Drive in Finder is expected as part of the update on Monterey macOS.

Can you check if you could find Box now available under "Locations" in Finder? This is part of changes noticeable with when running Box Drive on macOS File Provider Extension (FPE) mode. Please take a look at this article for details: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/4407737091219-Using-Box-Drive-on-macOS-File-Provider-Extension-FPE-mode

Our engineers recommend setting up a shortcut on your Desktop for Box Drive, and you may follow this article from Apple support to create a shortcut for Box Drive to get the shortcut for Box Drive back: https://support.apple.com/guide/mac-help/create-keyboard-shortcuts-for-apps-mchlp2271/mac

Let me know if you have any questions or run in any issue and I will do my best to help you!
