Occasionally my users will have issues with Excel or Word not opening when they launch a file from explorer. It seems to happen if they're working on several files at a time and the 5th (for example) won't open. I'm not sure there's a fix for this but I'd be interested in knowing if anyone else has seen this problem or know of an explanation as to why.
