A few days ago (around 4/28/2021) the Google Docs integration to Box stopped working for me. I have tired clearing my cache, incognito mode, and a different browser to not avail.


The error I get is this:


  1. From Box select New -> Google Doc (or Slide, any Google doc)

  2. Enter file name

  3. Hit return

  4. I get presented with Sign in to continue over and over and over again

Alternatively, you can simple click on a Google Doc and try to Open in Google Doc, same issue.


I am properly logged into Google and tried with a different browser (FireFox) and still get the same error. The file gets created but you cannot edit it in Google Doc.


Any help would be appreciated!

Can you make sure to enable cookies and third-party cookies to log in to the Google editor? To do this in Chrome:


  1. In the address bar, go to chrome://settings/content/cookies

  2. Enable this option: Allow sites to save and read cookie data (recommended)

  3. Disable this option: Block third-party cookies

Thanks France, but I think you missed the part where it was working a few days prior on the same machine. Cookie settings look good.

I am having the same problem. When I try to edit something with Google Docs I am constantly asked to Sign in to my Google account. Cookie settings are okay. How to resolve this issue?


Does anybody know if a resolution was offered for this bug?


It is not a bug.  


SOLUTION:   The primary email for your Box account must match an email on your Google account.


For Personal accounts,  add your Box email under "Alternate emails - Other email addresses you can use to sign in to your account" in your Google account settings.  It will now "just work".

Box should have some sort of warning when this issue arises.
