I need to clear an error message that occurred after an attempt to upload a file to a folder in which I don't have write permissions. How do I clear the error message?
Hi Craig,
Welcome to Box Community and glad to help!
Let me create a new case and a member of our team will be in touch, please keep an eye out.
Thanks for posting!
Thanks Rona. A member of the Box team helped me get this fixed.
The fix turned out to be easy: log out of Box, then log back in. The error message that was nagging me has not reappeared.
Some info about my setup: I use Box Drive on a PC running Windows 11.
This answer was really helpful, and VERY HARD TO FIND. Every search on the support site for clearing error message brought a lot of "here's what you did wrong" answers. I already knew what I did wrong and stopped doing it. Then I saw the same error message for WEEKS.
Seems like there should be a standard troubleshooting or "error message" answer for "how to clear the error message".
I suspect it's especially common to do what I did - down load a "read only" template, refine it into a specific case, and inadvertently hit save. Box is smart enough to tell me I don't have permission to save on a read only access file, but not smart enough to STOP telling me there was an error when I save the thing to another location, as I should have in the first place. And Box Support doesn't realize how many stupid people like me just need to know how to turn off the error message. (There should be a simpler way than logging out completely, but I'll try that!)
