Can somebody shed some light?


I used to use Box Sync where folders on Box.com that are synced (blue tick) are available on my computer. They are synced.


I started using Box Drive on new computer. However, folders that are synced on Box.com are not "available offline" (green tick) on my computer.


I would imagine Box Sync and Box Drive to be synonymous. That is synced folders on Box.com would be synced onto computer with green/blue tick whether with Box Drive or Sync installed.


Instead, all folders and files are now made available online (cloud icon) using Box Drive.


How do I get synced folders working with Box Drive?

Welcome to the Box Community!


The Sync option in Box.com has no impact and is not a function used in Box Drive, it is only use for Box Sync app.


Since you are now using Box Drive, you will have to use Box Drive's very own Mark for Offline feature.

I wonder whether they will merge to be the same thing in the future? So we can migrate from Sync to Drive.


In the meantime, so If I sync on Box.com, it won't translate to folders/files being Available Offline.


What if I mark it Available Offline on Box Drive, will it translate to synced folders/files on Box.com?


Just in case, can I download Box Sync now that Box Drive is the new thing?

How do I get it so that Box.com, Box Sync, Box Drive are all on the same page? I.e synced folders/files manifest in all 3.


My old laptop runs Box Sync. New one runs Box Drive. Box.com has some synced folders/files.


If I start afresh and Mark folders/files Available Offline, will that cause Box.com to have sync status? Will Box Sync sync onto computer?


If I sync on Box.com, does it not cause Box Drive to mark folders/files Available Offline?

Box Sync and Box Drive cannot be installed on the same device as it may cause multiple issues.


Since Box Drive has nearly all of Sync’s capabilities -- including the ability to work offline -- it’s worthwhile, simple, and fast to transition fully to using Box Drive. 


Using Box Drive, every time you make your edits on your files, and move contents your Box Drive, they automatically sync up to Box.com
