Hello, I am new to Box and I am trying to add a managed user, keep getting this error message: "Email already used in a box account but not associated with an enterprise". The person states they may where sent a link from another entity box account to view a folder. How do I get this person access to our box account? 

The error message indicates that the user's email is linked to a personal Box account. To resolve this, the user can either change their primary email address Home | First Progress in their personal account or join their personal account to your enterprise. You're likely to get this error while adding a personal free user. This serves as a reminder that you're adding an existing Box user. 


Here's what you can do. 


  • Continue to add the user, and when this error appears, "1 user failed to be added", ignore the error message and press the Save button again. Saving a second time will begin the invitation process.
