Restricting Collaborators to View Folders Only - Not Files Within the Folders

I’m trying to set up restrictions for some collaborators to only be able to view the folders and the folders within the folders, but not actually view the content, the actual files.

Is there a way to set this up?

Try the uploader permission

Thanks for your input, I do appreciate it.  Unfortunately the uploader permission level will not work as I don’t want the collaborators to be able to actually upload anything or create sub folders.

If they don’t and won’t have access to ANY of the files in the folders themselves then I don’t believe they can be setup to view the folders.  You can potentially provide the ability to view a file path but I believe they would need to be collaborated on a file or folder at some point in the downstream on that path to see the folders upstream.

Are these managed users or external users?

What is your end goal?  To have them be able to upload files in a folder but not see them after?

Thanks Chris - I think what I’m trying to accomplish might not be able to do, as I believe you are correct - person won’t be able to look only at folders

My goal is to have them be able to view where the folder is but not have access to the contents - where the case folder is will allow the user to know if the case is Closed, or Turn Down (no charges filed), or Bench Warrant (person failed to appear at court), or in a specific court date folder (ie 3/24 or 3/25 or 3/26 etc) - that way the user (i can set it up as either an internal collaborator or an external collaborator) knows the status of the case just by looking for where the folder is and doesn’t need to email us which creates work form my staff.

Not sure if that makes sense

I really appreciate the help

Ok I believe I understand what you are looking to provide.  Sorry to say I don't think there is anything native in Box that would allow this type of information to be shared quickly and easily.  I would say it is more of a CRM functionality than it is document management.

Sorry I can’t be of more help.
