Help,

I heard that Shield may be able to help me work around Box’s waterfall permissioning model.  Does anyone know if that’s true?

Ethical walls is in Shield!

Box has enabled organizations to better control access to content and remain compliant using Ethical Walls in Box Shield. Companies are generally required by law to safeguard insider information and ensure that improper trading does not occur, and ethical walls are information barriers within an organization that prevent exchanges or communication that could lead to conflicts of interest and therefore result in ethically or legally questionable business activities.

With Box Shield’s Ethical Walls, admins can segregate users based on their business units and prevent users from accessing content belonging to business units with conflicts of interest. Specially, with this Box Shield policy admins have the ability to:

  • Select between one-way or bidirectional restrictions, like restricting Segment A’s access to Segment B’s content, but not B’s access to A’s content (one-way)

  • Generate collaboration reports for business owners to understand what existing collaborations are violating their Ethical Walls configuration and will be revoked before enabling the configuration.

  • Communicate clearly to users attempting to access restricted content why they are being blocked from sharing information with a specific user
