Hi! We use box relay everyday, most used example would be a folder is created in “Inventory” and then 5 sub folders are automatically created. I want to create document placeholders in one of the sub folders , example inside a sub folder is document 1, document 2, document 3. These are just placeholders for an employee to attach a document to. Is there a work around for this?

Hello, @Jwillis

Creating document placeholders in Box Relay can be a bit tricky, but here’s a workaround you can try:

Create a Template Folder:
Set up a template folder structure with the necessary subfolders and placeholder documents.
Name the placeholder documents (e.g., “Document 1”, “Document 2”, “Document 3”).
Use Box Relay to Automate:
Create a new workflow in Box Relay.
Set the trigger to be the creation of a new folder in the “Inventory” folder.
As an action, use the “Copy Folder” action to copy the template folder structure (including the placeholder documents) into the newly created folder.
Configure the Workflow:
Ensure that the workflow copies the template folder and its contents to the correct location.
Test the workflow to make sure it creates the subfolders and placeholders as expected.
Steps to Create the Workflow:
Go to Box Relay:
In the Box web app, navigate to Relay and click New Workflow.
Set Up the Trigger:
Choose the trigger event as “Folder Created” in the “Inventory” folder.
Add Actions:
Add an action to “Copy Folder”.
Select the template folder you created earlier.
Specify the destination as the newly created folder in “Inventory”.
Activate the Workflow:
Save and activate the workflow.
This should automate the creation of subfolders and document placeholders whenever a new folder is created in “Inventory”.

I hope this info is helpful to you.

Best Regard,

Out of curiosity, what is the use case for this?
