I have implemented the Box Content Viewer including the Content Sidebar showing activities. The sidebar contains a drop-down that should allow you to add a task. When clicking this I get two options, but when I select one of the options nothing more happens. It should open a dialog where you can enter your task.

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Hi @hjhlarsen 👋 Welcome to Box Community! Thanks for raising this concern.

Can you please confirm if you're following the steps below to assign task (example below is the general task)?

To assign a general task:

  1. Click a file's name to open it in preview.
  2. In the Activity sidebar, click Add Task and select General Task.
  3. Assign people or a Box Group to the task. You can assign multiple people or groups, but all assignees must be collaborators in the folder containing the file.
  4. To specify that the entire task is completed when any one assignee completes it, check Only one assignee is required to complete this task. Otherwise, Box marks the status "Completed" when all assignees have completed the task.
  5. Add a due date for the completion, if necessary.
  6. Click Create. The assignees receive email notifications, as well as messages in Box.

Also, to understand this further:

  • Is the issue with Add Task only applies to specific folder or to all?
  • Are you the file/folder owner?
  • Have you tried using a different browser?

Thanks and I look forward to have this resolved. 🤗

Hi @Jey Bueno Box Please note that this is NOT in box.com. We have implemented the Box Content Viewer including the Content Sidebar showing activities, so basically we showing a Box preview in our app. So I’m not doing step 1 in your list. After performing step 2, I should see the Add Task dialog, but it does not show up at all.

This issue is for all files.

I’m the owner of the file.

I’ve tried this in Chrome and Safari.

Hi @hjhlarsen Thanks for getting back to us and sorry for the confusion. To understand and further investigate this issue related to adding task in content sidebar, we highly recommend for you to submit a ticket so our Product Support can take a look.

You may also provide additional information related to these:

  • Is this in a custom app?
  • Embedded in a widget?
  • Where is this occurring?
  • Can you share the screenshot?
  • You may also include the browser used (i.e. Chrome and Safari)

We'll likely need to collect and analyze a HAR, so opening a ticket would help resolving the issue. Thank you so much for your patience with this matter. 🤗
