I have a question regarding access restrictions in Box. We would like to control the devices used by external collaborators. Is it possible to configure the restriction for both general PCs and thin clients?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Hi @Yasukey 👋 Welcome to the Box Community!

If you are referring to Device Trust, this applies to managed users (not external collaborators), and it prevents users from logging into Box unless they are on a trusted/secure device. Additionally, this functionality is available for Enterprise accounts and above. Please check out the Setting Up Device Trust Security Requirements article to learn more.

In terms of collaboration access, Box provides several tools that allow you to collaborate with external users without compromising security. Check out this related community topic on how to secure data. These include:

  • Granular Access Permissions: You can specify exactly who can view, comment on, or edit a document. This ensures that only authorized individuals can make changes to sensitive files.

  • Secure File Sharing: Box allows for secure sharing links with expiration dates and passwords, preventing unauthorized access to sensitive documents.

  • Secure Collaboration: Teams can collaborate on financial reports and documents without the risk of exposing information to unauthorized parties.

  • Limit collaboration to allowlisted domains: A part of the Governance package; this allows you to pre-approve specific domains that users are permitted to collaborate with (all others will be blocked).

While this will not restrict collaborators' devices, it helps limit their access to your shared content.
