| Multiple signer support for CAC/PIV smart card signer authentication in Box Sign (Oct 2025) GA | We recently released the ability for U.S. Federal Government organizations and contractors to request signatures from multiple signers within a single signature request and force them to authenticate themselves with their CAC/PIV smart cards. This enables U.S. Federal Government organizations and contractors with the flexibility to address a broader set of use cases and business process that require multiple signatories. |
| Box is improving user management by enabling Auto-Enrollment Default ON for newly verified domains Coming soon | To help enterprises reduce the risk of unmanaged users, Box will now default on auto-enrollment for all newly domains verified using a DNS TXT record. This means that any new user who signs up for Box with an email address that is part of a verified domain will be redirected to the enterprise's sign-up page, causing them to become a managed user of the enterprise. |
| In-app guidance to allow Box local network access in Chromium 142 for Open in Desktop Launched | Starting with Chromium version 142, browsers like Chrome and Edge will ask users to allow or block local network access when a website connects to software on their device. Box relies on this mechanism to communicate with the Box Tools software on the same device to support Open in Desktop. If permission isn’t granted, this feature will stop working. To help, we’ve added in-app guidance that explains this new browser behavior and walks users through allowing access. Box only communicates with Box Tools on your own device—it does not access other devices on your local network. |
| Coming soon | Admins currently hard-delete users via the API, which removes audit trails and attribution. We’re introducing a “make user inactive” option to enable soft deprovisioning. We’ll also enrich delete responses with user engagement metrics (e.g., last_activity_at, content size), so Admins have more context before deciding to delete a user. |
| Coming soon | We’re adding a new way for admins to find and onboard freemium, unmanaged users who use your verified domains, but do not have access to your Enterprise’s content. In the Admin Console’s External Users tab, you will soon be able to see unmanaged user’s name, email, and invite status, as well as roll them into the automated flow. |
| Folder setting enhancements in Content Manager Coming soon | Content Manager gives you complete administrative visibility and control over content across your organization, enabling admins to find, view, access, and perform certain actions on content owned by your organization's managed users. We are making enhancements to Folder settings in Content Manager, giving Admins better control over important folders. |
