Thanks to @andrew slate Paige Vermeer and Katy Parker, Data and content management expert, AI explorer
and PIM System Administrator at Congo Brands, for yesterdays great demo and overview. Please find the recording and highlights below.
Insights on AI Adoption and Challenges
Andrew kicked off by sharing trends, challenges, and solutions that businesses can leverage to unlock AI’s potential. Recording clip here
The Rapid Advancement of AI
Andrew explained the ongoing evolution of AI, emphasizing its increased affordability, speed, and intelligence:
"AI is only getting cheaper, faster, and smarter as many on the call know. Today, we have models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Meta, and more that overperform on key benchmarks compared to models released just months ago."

Blockers to AI Adoption
Andrew conducted a poll to identify challenges in adopting AI. He pinpointed major roadblocks that many businesses face:
-
Data access: "AI is only as good as the data it can access."
-
Context fragmentation: "Most businesses store their information in different documents, across various file types, and within different systems."
-
Security concerns: "You need control to reduce risk, and that extends beyond security. As AI continues to advance, you’ll want the optionality to make pivots and take advantage of the best models for your use case."

Driving Results with AI: Practical Demonstrations
Paige, a Solutions Engineer, showcased how Box AI streamlines client onboarding workflows through automation and metadata management. Recording clip here

Customizing Data Collection and Automating Processes
Paige demonstrated how Box apps enable businesses to configure and customize data collection fields, tagging metadata that drives downstream processes. She showed how onboarding workflows could be automated, significantly reducing manual tasks."What might have taken my team, you know, tons of hours... could be simplified down to a matter of seconds and it’s also gonna reduce significantly the risk of human error."
Enhancing Security with Automated Policies
The demo also highlighted Box’s intelligent security features. Sensitive documents were flagged, classified, and protected using automated data classification rules:"We’ve had Box automatically apply this data classification label to reinforce some security policies such as dynamic watermarking and even restricting my ability to share this file with specific external parties."

Product Announcements: Unlocking Intelligent Automation
The demo concluded updates on new Box products aimed at simplifying workflows and driving efficiency:
-
Box Extract: Customizable, highly accurate data extraction at scale, offering deeper insights into complex documents.
-
Box Automate: A no-code workflow builder to orchestrate processes across teams and AI agents for maximum efficiency.
-
Shield Pro: Intelligent security tools, including agents for data classification and threat analysis, addressing common security concerns.
Audience members voted on their favorite, with most interest in Box Automate: "Really that nervous system for executing on AI’s operation and orchestrating across agents."

An Interview with Katie Parker from Congo Brands
Katie Parker (System Administrator, Congo Brands) shared how Congo Brands uses Box and AI tools to drive business growth and streamline workflows. Recording clip here. She revealed two key use cases:
Contract Management Automation
Katy explained their team’s success with automating contract reviews: "We do have all manner of contracts from software pieces to equipment pieces to supplier contracts. I’ve built a pretty robust metadata template using Box's metadata tools and used the automatic extract function to populate data. It has made metadata creation... at least nine times faster."
Parker also emphasized using AI chat agents for creating executive summaries for lengthy contracts: "When you're talking about those 70-page contracts that no one wants to sit down and read line for line... your executive team... just should need to know what is it, what am I getting, and how much does it cost."
Image Metadata Extraction for Marketing
Another use case was extracting metadata from product images for e-commerce and marketing workflows:
"A process that would maybe take me ten minutes or more per image is now going to be instant."
Best Practices for AI Adoption
Parker encouraged businesses to start small when implementing AI:"Starting with small needs around the company, that could leverage AI—small pain points—and then building from there."
She also stressed the value of scalability: "Being able to leverage AI to quickly make models adaptable to the new types of data or the new ways that you need to structure your data... makes it repeatable quite easily once you add more to the profile."
