Hi there. I'm looking to do some simple collaborating with a friend on something and am looking for a desktop solution similar to what Dropbox is, where we can both add or edit stuff in a shared folder from our individual desktops. I see that there's Box Drive and Box Sync, although I'm not 100% sure either does this.

I currently have a free account with 50 gigs space. If one of the above apps is the right fit, does the other person just sign up for an account and download that app, then I share a folder with them?

Thanks.

Hi there,

Welcome to the Box Community, I'm happy to help!

That is correct! Box Drive can be used to access your Box folders into your desktop, and in order to collaborate with others, the other user must login to Box or sign up for an account since collaboration requires one (they may sign up on this page for an individual account).

Once they've completed setting up their account and accepted your invite, they can download the Box Drive app here to access your shared folders into their desktop.

To learn more about using Box Drive, please take a look at this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043697494-Using-Box-Drive-Basics

Thanks for reaching out and let us know how else we can help!

All the Best,
