Sometimes documents open properly.  Other times, I get a "Launching Application" dialog box, but nothing opens on my computer.

I just tried the old standby: rebooting the computer. That fixed the problem for the time being. I'm wondering if there are any settings I can adjust to avoid this issue.


And after closing Word, and then trying to reopen, I'm stuck again with the (incorrect) "Launching Application" message:
