I would like to know who downloads a file. How can I see you downloaded a file?

Hi Tedra,

Welcome to Box Community and glad to help!

You can run a User Activity to track your (and your Organization's) download activity.

Here's how to get that report:

  • Login to box.com and navigate to your Admin Console> Reports.
  • Click Create report> User Activity then next.
  • You can also filter your report to Users and Groups, Select Affected Files and Folders and Date Range.
  • In Action Types select File Management and use your filter necessary i.e. Downloaded.
  • Lastly, click run to create a csv file for this report.

Once your report is completed, your csv file will upload in your Box reports folder.

Hope it helps!

Sadly, Box has become confusing and difficult to manage - and greedy I might add.  I used to be able to get a simple notification and then easily see who (or at least from where) someone downloaded a file.  Now, every article is convoluted and pushes toward some expensive subscription in order to see who accesses my files.  Pathetic.  Time to search for an alternative, I’m afraid.
