Uploading New Versions of files is not working

Several team members are trying to upload new versions of files but are not getting the option when we click the 3 dots. Different files, different people, different days.

Good news! It appears to have been sorted out as stated by our Engineering team. Could you try uploading a new version?

This first started happening last Friday, and is continuing today - I’ve been working with Box for almost 8 years and never had this issue. Nothing has changed - I am using the same computer and same login.

When I open a part (download page), and click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner, and select “upload new Version”, nothing happens. A dialog window should open so you can upload a new file, but currently nothing happens. I have tried “uploading a new version” in several different ways and nothing works.

I have restarted my PC and the browser sever times. I have tried different files in different folders and nothing works. I cannot seem up upload new versions of files anywhere.  I am using this for work, and now I cannot complete my work.

I understand that you have restarted your PC, use different browser and have tried different files in a different folders and cannot seem to upload new verson of files anywhere.

To properly address this, I created a new ticket and our Box Product Support will be in touch. Please keep an eye out.

My team and I are seeing same issue as above for the past week or so.  For the same file and user, sometimes Upload New Version allows an upload, sometimes it doesn’t.

Hello, I am having an issue across all documents where when clicking “Upload new version,” nothing at all happens -- no error message, no pop-up, just nothing happens when I click the button in a document to which I have editing access.

I have tried clearing my browser’s cache and cookies, and tried in a separate browser, but had no luck. Has anyone else run into this issue?

We are experiencing the same issue. This started happening about two weeks ago. We have been with BOX for 5 years and use it very extensively in our workflow. As mentioned in the other user response, we have never had this issue. 

We are experiencing the same thing as the previous user:


When I open a part (download page), and click on the 3 dots in the upper right corner, and select “upload new Version”, nothing happens. A dialog window should open so you can upload a new file, but currently, nothing happens. I have tried “uploading a new version” in several different ways and nothing works.
 

The difference with ours is that after a couple of computer restarts, we can use the “upload new version” function, but it creates a new file rather than overwriting the old one. I have also noticed that it will not upload a file with the same name. We need to adjust the name, and that isn't ideal for us as we are sharing this file across several departments, and the other departments need the name to be exact, so after upload, we have to go back in and rename.  

We are a large corporation using this functionality daily, and unfortunately, we are getting the question of why we are still using BOX if it doesn’t do what we need. We have waited a little bit, but not seeing a change in functionality is concerning. We're exploring other options and have already started the process of leaving BOX in case.

I am having the same issue.  I just changed to a new computer so I thought that might be the problem - went to my old computer and was able to upload the file without a problem.  Possibly an operating system issue?

I am unaware of the Drag-and-Drop functionality. Can you explain more?

We can absolutely walk you through it! You just drag files from your desktop to the Files page in Box. Your files will be uploaded and will appear in the folder where you dropped them. You can reference to this article.

The problem I am experiencing is uploading a new version over the old version.

The problem I am experiencing is saving a new version of the file over the old one. We are also using relays, so does the drag and drop work with the relays?
