Hi

We have an external user that has collaborated and created files within our Box folder structure. The external user no longer works for us and we wish to remove them from the system. How do we do this without losing any work they have collaborated on or files/folders they have created.

Hi @Axel.Wagner

Welcome to Box Community, and we’ll help remove the user.

If the user belongs in another enterprise, please reach out to your Box Admin to delete the external user.

Deleting an external user removes all collaborations to which the user has been invited.

  1. Go to Admin Console > Users & Groups.
  2. Select the External User tab.
  3. In the drop-down list, select External Users.
  4. Hover over the name of the external user and select the More Options (More Options button) button.
  5. Select Delete User.
  6. In the confirmation dialog box, select Delete.

Hope it helps, and please let us know if you have additional questions.

Hi @LeadershipSharon,

Welcome to Box Community! I moved your post to this related thread and please feel free to jump in and join our discussion!

Once we delete your external user they no longer have any visibility to your Box contents and won’t be able delete any files.

For any questions and clarifications, please reply to this thread.

Hi

Can you confirm that taking the above steps of removing the external user will NOT delete/remove any of the files they have created and/or collaborated on ?

Kind regards

Sharon
