Share annotated pdf with non-Box users...?

I have just annotated a pdf for a colleague of mine who is not a Box user. I shared a link to the pdf, and I shared a link to the folder that the annotated pdf is in, but my colleague cannot access the annotations using any of those links.

Is there really no way to share a pdf with the annotations with a non-Box user? I can find nothing similar to "Allow people with this link to view annotations" on the Share link dialog.

Thanks

Hi Martin,

Welcome to the Box Community!

Annotation is currently not accessible to open shared links, so unfortunately, non-Box users won't be able to access it.

If this is something you would like to be able to do, I would highly recommend submitting this feature request at pulse.box.com! Our product managers review these requests and take them into consideration for future product development.

Best,

OK, thanks. I will post that feature request. It would make annotating pdfs directly in Box much more useful (to me).

In the meantime, is there any way that I can myself download the annotations? I really would not want to put in all the time needed to manually copy-paste everything into a stand-alone pdf-annotator.

Thanks

Hi Martin,

Unfortunately, Annotations are not downloadable at present.

Have you considered inviting your colleague as a Collaborator? This should allow her to access annotations, although, inviting a someone as a collaborator will required the invitee to sign up for a Box account to access the content.

Best,

Yes, in the end that was how we solved our problem. He signed up for a free Box account and I invited him to the folder as a collaborator.

Thanks
