Hi:  When I installed, dropbox gave me the option to use the C: or D: drive.  When I installed Box, that did not happen.  How can I switch  Box to use the D: drive?  I want to use my SSD  (C:) for critical projects, not storing lots of files in Box

Hi Vance,

Welcome to the Box Community!

Users are now able to change the Box Drive folder location but please take note that you're only moving the location of the Box Drive mount point. The cache and app data locations remain unchanged. So even though you move the mount location to a hard drive partition other than C:\, you continue to use space in C:\..

This information can be found in this article: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043697454-Configuring-the-Default-Box-Drive-Folder-Location

"Important:

  • Customizing the Box Drive folder does not change where Box Drive stores its app data or cached files. So customizing the folder will not save disk space if you relocate the folder to another drive.

Best,

France,

You didn't really answer the question about how to get the data being physically stored on the D: Drive.

I tried launching the install program from my D: Drive, but it still installed everything on the C: drive.

Thanks,

Wendy

I did find in another post on the same topic someone posting a workaround using a Symlink - I have not tried this.
