Is there a way to set defaults on the search bar? For example, I would love the default to search for folders only, not files & folders. The result list is too long and control F doesn't work in the browser
Welcome to Box Community and glad to help!
We've created a new case and a member of our team will contact you through email, please keep an eye out.
Thanks for posting!
I agree. Why can't we set our own default preferences for the search bar? Right now, whenever I click the search bar, it is automatically set to search within the same folder I'm currently in. I don't like this. I would much prefer to search everywhere as the standard, instead of always needing to click "everywhere."
I agree with Amanda. Let users choose their prefered default option of "Everywhere" or "In this Folder." Going first to "In this Folder" is making my work life a pain since it's started doing this.
The box search is driving me crazy too. I can not find where support addressed these concerns. Did I miss something?
Hi Jimmy,
My guess is that Box isn't going to look at this at all, since the initial post was from a year ago (and yet Box never changed to allow users to set defaults on the search bar). It is in my experience that Box never actually addresses any of the concerns users post on here, but there is no other way to submit requests for change, so I guess we will be stuck with the current way unless enough people complain. I have made a new post, which you can upvote. I also suggest everyone creating their own post as well to really drive up the demand for search bar customization. Here's a link to my post: https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/community/posts/33982559764371-Allow-Search-Customization
Please share the link of your posts as well so I can upvote them as well. This current default settings on the search bar is ridiculous, and it has got to go.
Hi Amanda,
Thanks for reaching out. Unfortunately, I know you are correct. Not listening to your customers is much too common, and Box is no different.
