I am wondering if someone from Box support can restore a file for me. It was accidently overwritten, and I am on a free account, so I cannot restore previous versions. The previous version has important info and was not saved elsewhere. Please advise.

I'm sorry to hear that you lost access to the previous version.
Since you are under a free account, Unfortunately, this feature is not available. Though it still shows number of versions only 10 versions can be retrieved when you upgrade to Personal Pro. You may refer to this article:
