Hi @watcher, @StorageM, @mwad512, & @2pipes, we’re sorry to hear you’re also having issues with your storage count.
Information about data inconsistencies is discussed here: Storage Usage Or File Count In My Account Is Incorrect. Aggregates can take up to 24 hours, however if your actual storage still doesn’t match your usage afterward, then we’ll investigate further what’s causing the issue.
As advised, we don’t perform recalculations immediately, and we need to better understand the behavior and issues causing these inaccuracies in each specific account.
To help isolate the issue, could you please provide complete information for the following details:
-
Can you identify any specific folders or files that may not be reporting correctly, and where you're seeing this? (e.g., a large folder with multiple subfolders if applicable — from the "All Files" overview, you can click ‘Size’ to sort.)
-
Where exactly are you seeing the inaccuracy? (i.e. are you looking at a specific folder, your total storage amount, etc.?)
-
Can you share a screenshot of the issue? (note: please avoid including any personal information in the screenshot.)
-
Is this just an inaccurate data (a display issue), or is it actively blocking your workflows? If it's the latter, could you provide more details about what's being affected?
Thanks for your patience. I look forward to your responses!

I deleted all of my files.

It still says 7.3GB/10.0GB for my storage space after deleting the files.

Unfortunately, no. The issue seems to have finally fixed itself after a week, unless one of you did something.

I have no idea. I simply assumed it wouldn’t allow me to add the new files as long as the storage was “full”. Next time I refresh my backup, I will try to upload the new files even when it says it’s out of space. This has happened every time I’ve deleted my files, so I’m sure I’ll get a chance to test this in the near future.
Thank you for your feedback and for bringing this issue to our attention.
I can confirm that the storage has been reset for the affected users. It appears that there may have been a delay in aggregating the data due to some internal cached files on your accounts. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Our engineering team is actively working to improve the process, and we anticipate that the storage calculation will be completed shortly, based on user activity and the volume of saved content.
Should you encounter the same issue again, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us so we can investigate further.
I can confirm that the issue has indeed resolved on my account.
Thank you
It says my box is full but i deleted every file from my box/
Hi @espinheira, welcome to the Box Community! I’ve moved your post here.
Our records do not show that your storage is full, so I assume the data was recently updated after you deleted files from your Box. As mentioned earlier, storage aggregates can take up to 24 hours to reflect changes.
If you're still seeing an error, please reply to my previous message (highlighted in this thread) with the requested details so we can continue troubleshooting.
Hi,
my storage is not getting free, although deleted files.
Please fix it.
Thank you
Hi @AGroz,
Welcome to Box Community and we’re glad to assist!
We moved your post in this related topic, please see the details below:
On occasion, you may notice data inaccuracies in your account. As outlined here—Storage Usage Or File Count In My Account Is Incorrect—this explains why such issues may occur:
- A folder will often have several sub-folders, with additional sub-folders below them (and so on). Within each sub-folder, there can be files that are continuously being added, edited, and deleted by multiple people at any given moment. The countless activities, combined with the massive scale at which Box supports, makes it incredibly difficult to accurately display aggregated data points throughout our product at all times. If a folder’s storage space calculation is inaccurate due to these issues, the inaccuracies also impact the overall storage calculations for both the user and Enterprise.
- Most of the time, aggregates will be updated within an hour or less. For larger changes or more complex folder structures, aggregates may take up to 24 hours to be correct.
You mentioned it’s been a few days that your storage quota isn’t displaying correctly. To help us investigate further, could you please provide answers to the questions in the post I highlighted above?
I’ll be keeping an eye out for your response. 😊
As what was already discussed, aggregates will be corrected in the next 24 hours. In event that it goes beyond the expected ETA, please let us know.
We would love to continue working with you!
My Box storage is showing as full even after I deleted a bunch of files.
This has happened in the past and I believe someone at Box assisted to update the storage to the correct amount, however I cannot remember the exact path I took to get this done.
I’ve deleted my files but my account still says I’m a full capacity.
How can I fix this? Is there a way to run a script?
I removed the all data of my account.
and removed all the data in the trash.
But The amount of my storage does not become zero.
Please zero out the used storage.
I have deleted some files, but the available storage figure has not updated. Please run the script on my account that can provide a fix. Thank you. -Che

Hello there! I recently removed a large amount of files from my account, but the storage still shows as being full. Can you please correct my storage. calculation? Thank you!
Hi @xtreemicon,
Welcome to Box Community! We have an ongoing discussion regarding data inaccuracies and I moved your post to this topic.
Note
If you ever come across these data inaccuracies in your account, please know that the problem is entirely with the display of these totals. This has no effect on your underlying data. All of your files remain in place and have not decreased in size or been edited by unauthorized people.
Most of the time, aggregates will be updated within an hour (for example the user aggregates) or less. For larger changes or more complex folder structures, aggregates may take up to 24 hours to be correct. In rare cases, the file count and size might take few days to a week to be updated.
For reference, please see this article.
Thanks for posting, and we appreciate your time and patience!
Hello, I cant upload anything to my cloud because Box says I am over my storage limit. However, adding up my file totals, I should have plenty of room. I recently filled up my storage and then deleted a large number of files, then cleared the trash. How long does this take to update?
Hi @bqueipo,

my storage shows used up to 79gb out of 100gb. However, i didnt store that much.
Please run script on this.
Besides, where to check the files that used my box storage while what files are used collaborators storage?
Hi @skyblue9115
Welcome to Box Community! Due to end users reporting incorrect storage usage, I have redirected your post to this topic. Please join the discussion!
Upon checking your Box account, I discovered that your current storage usage has decreased to 32.7 GB from 100.0 GB. I regret any inconvenience this may have caused.
Why does this happen?
A folder will often have several sub-folders, with additional sub-folders below them (and so on). Storage was marked as full and unable to upload new files.
I deleted a bunch of files, then emptied the trash but still cannot upload new files.
Please rectify this asap if possible.
Thank you.

Is it possible to trigger the magic script myself?
I have the same issue. I haven’t been able to upload anything in weeks.
Drive space on Box is incorrect, please run the script to correct it.
Hi, I'm having the problem of storage saying it's almost full when it's not. I just deleted a few files, but it is still full. Can someone run the script for my account, please?
Thanks
I deleted the file old versions by DELETE /files/:file_id/versions/:file_version_id
API ,
but the size of the folder which stores the file doesn’t seems to be released, from the information of the API the old versions moved to trash but why the space doesn’t release?
as this reason, storage limit reached occurred often,
and the adjusting file version can be only apply on enterprise , specific folder is not available,
what can we do to release the space !!!
