Repeated Box Tools installs

I have downloaded and installed Box Tools on a number of occasions. Every time I try to open a document from the web to an application (Word, etc.), I receive a message that I need to install Box Tools, even though it is already installed. I have read through forum and support posts, and have had no luck solving this issue.
