registering collaborator with complex email domain

Hi there - I am trying to help a collaborator register for a box account. His email address has two dots in the domain name ( [removed by moderator] ) and entering this email address into the email address field on the sign up for a new account website gives an error message that reads “Email address is not valid”. Is there a way to register given this structure of his email address? thanks!

Hi @mwallace

Welcome to Box Community, and we’ll assist for your colleague to successfully set up a Box account.

In general, an email with multiple domain levels can be valid, such as name@subdomain.company.com. So a domain containing more than one dot is not automatically invalid. If the Box sign-up page is rejecting it, the most likely explanations are:

  • there may be an actual formatting issue in the address
  • there may be hidden spaces or characters from copy/paste
  • the site validator may be rejecting that domain pattern
  • the domain itself may not be configured as expected

Here are a few things you could try:

  • type the address manually instead of pasting it
  • check for any leading/trailing spaces
  • confirm the domain is real and can receive mail
  • try a different browser or an incognito/private window
  • if available, try another email address for comparison

Hope it works! Let us know in this thread if you have additional question.
