Our password protection feature is not available for individual files or folders. What we currently offer is password protection in “Shared Links,” specifically set to “People with the Link.” You can check out the article Configuring Individual Shared Link Settings > Requiring a Password to Access to learn more.

Our Product Team continues to evaluate our customers' needs and feedback. You can submit your feature request in Box Pulse or vote for an open request, such as Password Protect Folders and Files.

Please let us know if you have any other concerns or questions. 

I second the request for folder and single file password protection. This feature I am sure would be very popular with end users.
