when i upload to a folder, it says 6 files. however i have uploaded more than 6 files and they can be viewed when within the folder. but on the general folder view it says 6 files when it should say 8.

The issue you encounter seems related to what is described in this article:
To help resolve this, I've ran the script that will recount all of the files/ folders in your account, so you should now be seeing the correct file count and storage size in your Box.
