Hello Community! I am the Box Admin for a food and beverage company that is using Box to store our contracts, from technology licenses to manufacturing agreements.

My Contract Management team has created and implemented a metadata template on the contracts folder. They want to use the expiry date within the metadata to trigger a notification to review the contract 90 days before that date.

I was not able to figure out how to achieve this with Relay. Metadata template based notifications seem to be limited to notifications when metadata is applied, but not based off of the metadata itself. Does anyone know of a built-in or external mechanism to meet this need?

👋 Hi @parkerkv, welcome to the Box Community!

At this time, the ability to send notifications based on dates in metadata templates or values is not supported. While this feature is not currently on the roadmap, our Product Team continues to evaluate customer feedback and may consider it for future development. We encourage you to vote for the related feature request on Box Pulse: Automated Email Notifications Based on Metadata Values.

For future planning, we recommend discussing strategic approaches for your organization—including metadata and Box Relay workflows—with your Customer Success Manager. Kindly check out my message with the best point of contact.

If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a great day! 😊
