Hi
Welcome to Box Community, and we’ll help with your upload and download notifications.
Remember that you can modify receiving notifications for upload and download by going through the Folder Settings and/or Account Settings.
To enable upload and download notifications, there are two places to check in Box: Account Settings and Folder Settings.
Account Settings
- Open your Box account and go to Account Settings.
- Open the Notifications tab.
- In Email Notifications, choose which events you want to be notified about.
- For folders you own or folders you’ve joined, enable the checkboxes for:
- Downloads
- Uploads
- Save your changes if prompted.
According to Manage-Account-Settings, these account-level notification settings become the default for:
- all newly created folders in your account, or
- folders that are set to Use my default notification settings.
Folder Settings
- Go to the folder.
- Hover over the folder and click More Options (or right-click the folder).
- Click Settings.
- Go to Email and Notifications Settings.
- Under Notifications, choose:
- Use my default notification settings to inherit your Account Settings, or
- Override default settings for this folder and all subfolders to set custom notifications for that folder.
- If you choose Override default settings for this folder and all subfolders, make sure Disable all email notifications for all collaborators is not selected.
- Then enable the events you want:
- Downloads
- Uploads
- Save the folder settings.
According to Box-Folder-Settings, folder-specific notifications apply to all files in that folder and its subfolders.
Important notes
- Only Owners, Co-Owners, and Editors can enable folder notification settings.
- You cannot trigger email notifications to yourself for actions you triggered.
