Not a fan of having to select search "everywhere" every time I need to find a folder.

my whole team had trouble "searching".

I have to click everywhere every time or it only searched the folder I am in.

Too busy for this extra step.

Our team is having the same issue. Is there any setting that defaults to search "everywhere" like it did before?

I agree, As the EID Admin, I have hundreds of users that are very unhappy about this change / enhancement that took place this week. This is not a ticket issue; this is a gross miscalculation in how devs at Box think people use search. It was known as the "Global Search Bar", because it searched everywhere by default! Who ever thought it was good idea to change its default behavior to be a Local search after performing a Global search was crazy. Roll this update back ASAP, please.

I agree, too busy for the additional added step that adds time to the countless searches that I do every day.  The Global Search Bar should be searching everywhere not in the folder I'm in.  Why would anyone want to do a secondary search in the folder they are already in?  Please undo this change and make my co-workers and myself happy again.

Any update? This is a very annoying default for a GLOBAL search bar!

This was the response I received from BOX:

As part of the updated Search Experience that was released in the last couple of weeks, Box has made an update to Search in a folder experience. Please read more details about the release here. This updated experience scopes the search to a folder when a user navigates to a folder and searches for an item. If the user wants to search everywhere in Box and not restrict the scope to only within the folder, the user can choose "Everywhere" in the search box and that will search across all documents the user has access to.

We understand this enhancement has caused some changes for you. While we hope you give the new search experience a try, we would like to learn more about the effect of the changes on your workflow. We have a line of communication open with our product and engineering teams, and would be sharing your thoughts with them directly.

TO BOX: This change has obviously affected many users in a negative way. The feedback is this: Make the default "Everywhere" or at least allow users and/or admins to change it.

Why would users want to adjust to a slower search process? If your team needs proof that this change is unwanted, a quick scan of the community forums should provide that.

I voiced this concern / complaint above a few months back. I was told to submit a ticket for our EID, so they could look into it which I did. They asked a few questions and provided me a similar response as to Falynn Serio's above. Basically, saying this core capability of Box is functioning as intended and they can find nothing wrong.

LOL, there may be nothing wrong with the code behind this capability but it's the change in how the search works that has everyone so upset, not that search doesn't work. In the end the concerns my company voiced fell on deaf ears and Box signaled they were going to do nothing about it, by closing this community support post and my support ticket by marking it "complete".
