New Box Enterprise Plus Account - Multiple Things not Working

I was sold Box and my account rep has since went MIA. I got a company expecting to go live and have a few issues I really need help resolving.

  1. Finder options not working
  2. Assistance with Restricted Data detection and access policy
  3. Main domain change from inertiaenterprises to inertia

My understanding is Finder on a MacBook should be able to provide options to create new documents directly within Finder. I have found the toggle within settings to enable Finder Extension.. but it disables itself automatically. I have no idea how to troubleshoot further.

I want to restrict access to specifically classified files, the best I can make happen using shield is a detection rule which kicks the user from the system.. there has to be a better way. Either, dont show the files if you dont meet the access criteria, or prevent it from opening, something? For context, I have classification labels and I am using a detection rule to say if a file is classified as “x” then check if the user has a specific IP address. This is to force our users to be connected and entitled with our Zero Trust solution to access the data. The detection rule works, when connect to zero trust they dont get booted, when they aren’t they do get booted. I just need a better solution…

Finally, we had a few instances of Zoom and with this purchase they were being consolidated. I believe one of them had our primary domain as the vanity subdomain. Now, I cant seem to change my current subdomain to that one as it says it is in use…

Hi @JoeyDub

Welcome to Box Community, and we’re here to discuss your questions regarding your Enterprise Plus plan.

Here are the quick answers to your questions,

  1. If you’re looking to access, edit and upload Box contents through Finder, you can install Box Drive
  2. There is a better direction than using a detection rule that boots the user out of the session.

The strongest supported approach is to move toward classification-based access controls plus conditional / Zero Trust-aware access decisions at the content layer, rather than relying mainly on session ejection.

  • Keep the classification label on the file.
  • Tie policy to that label.
  • Use conditional access context like IP/network location and trust signals.
  • Restrict access to the file/content itself rather than treating the whole session as the enforcement point.

To further discuss this, you must get in touch with your Account Executive. To determine your AE, please submit a support ticket

  1. Lastly, you can update your email domain using the steps in this article

At best, you should seek the assistance of your Account Executive regarding your Box plan. If there’s anything you’d like to ask in the Community please feel free to reply!
