Multiple Issues - HELP

I have several issues going on. 

1. I was invited to collaborate on a few folders, but when I click the link to accept the invite, it either opens to my dashboard and I can't see any new shared folders, or it sends me to a page to create a Box account. 

2. In the process of trying to access the folders, I accidentally created a new Box account using my new email address (I've been using an old email address because I didn't change it when our company switched over to a new email). When I realized I created a new account, I permanently deleted it so I could go through the suggested route of adding the new email address as my personal email address and switching it over that way. But now, it won't let me add my new email address because it says it's already in use by another user. 

I realize I've completely messed everything up, but would LOVE some help updating my email address to the correct one AND getting access to the shared folders I need that started this whole process.
