I would like to move multiple files with in a folder into one folder instead of one at a time. For instance, I have a folder titled Yellow and have a, b, c, d, files in it. I would like to move them all to the x file located in the same yellow folder. It is difficult moving a 20 files one by one to another file. Having to select it, press move or copy, then search the folder is very time consuming. It will be better to select them all and hit move copy once.

Thank you so much!

Hi Janice,

Welcome to Box Community!

To move or copy multiple items at once:

  1. Do the same actions as you do when selecting multiple items on your desktop:
  • On Windows machines, to select multiple items in a group, press and hold SHIFT and click anywhere next to the items you want. To select multiple scattered items, press and hold CTRL anywhere next to each of the items you want.
  • On Mac machines, to select multiple items in a group, press and hold SHIFT and click anywhere next to the items you want. To select multiple scattered items, press and hold CMD and click anywhere next to each of the items you want.
  1. In the top-right portion of the screen, click the ellipsis (...) to open the Move or Copy window.

I hope this answers your question. Thank you for posting!

After not finding the “copy” function under the ellipsis as usual when I have multiple subfolders selected, it showed up as an icon option rather than under the ellipsis.  This option seems to migrate from the “more” ellipsis to an icon and back depending on factors I haven’t tried to sort out.  If someone isn’t finding the copy option with multiple files selected, look for it in a different place than you usually find it before trying something more involved.
