Mobile BOX App - upload issue

I have always been able to upload video files directly from my phone using the mobile BOX app and suddenly, I was unable to today. I have been able to directly upload from my phone for YEARS.

The error message I got said “Cannot upload this file type” --- but that doesn’t make any sense because it’s an .MP4 file and Box definitely does accept/support this file type.

File size was 238MB -- is there a file-size limit? I’ve uploaded this file-size successfully in the past.

Is anyone running into this same issue? Can this be fixed so I can efficiently upload capture videos directly to BOX once again? Appreciate it!

Welcome to Box Community, and we’ll assist with your upload error. 

Your upload error can’t be because of your upload size limit, if ever you are uploading it in one of your owned folders. As individual free users can upload a single file up to 250 MB. 

 

By any chance, did you already tried these troubleshooting steps? 

  • Try to log out and log in from your Box for Mobile application. 
  • Restart your mobile device. 
  • Uninstall and re-install your Box for Mobile application. 
  • Try uploading it in your mobile browser via m.box.com
  • Use another mobile device and/or use your desktop. 

Should the error persist, I have a few questions and hope you don’t mind,

  • What is the Operating System running in your mobile device?
  • Has it ever worked before? If so, when did it start?
  • Is the error recurring in different file types or just for .MP4 files only? 
  • Did you try to upload another file, if so how did it go?
  • Are you uploading in your owned folder or on a shared folder?
