I installed fresh box drive and my thumbnails are not visible on mac. I did follow the article:

my folder containing images is available offline and still it does not work. The entire box is useless without this feature as you have to press each photo...and wait for it to show.

Can you try to quit Box Drive from the menu bar and then start the app again and see if the preview thumbnails work?
If the issue persists, could you try to uninstall and then reinstall Box Drive app from your Mac computer:
