I’m attempting to synchronize a variety of folders between Box and my iPad. I use the iPad when at a job site, and may not have access to wifi. This works very well for some folders, but other folders show as continually “Downloading” and the Sync Activity shows “Saving Unsuccessful” for that folder.

How can I troubleshoot, and ultimately resolve this problem?

Hi @nelison

Welcome to Box Community, and we’re glad to help make your Box contents available offline on Box for iOS.

Your issue with some folders on iPad showing as continually “Downloading” and “Saving Unsuccessful” in Sync Activity likely relates to permissions or offline availability limitations on iOS devices. According to “Manage Your Content with Box for iOS,” Box Notes cannot be saved for offline use, and if you do not have sufficient storage space on your device, files will fail to save offline.

Also, from “Syncing via Apps on your iOS Device,” syncing on iOS is app-integrated rather than full file system sync, which may limit certain folder types or content. Additionally, network interruptions can cause issues, but since you are offline, this points more toward permission or unsupported content issues.

To resolve this:

  • Verify that you have download permissions for all files in the affected folders.
  • Check available storage on your iPad; insufficient space can prevent downloads.
  • Confirm that the folder contents do not include unsupported file types or Box Notes, which cannot be made available offline.
  • Try refreshing the offline folder view or re-marking the folder for offline access.
  • If problems persist, uninstalling and reinstalling the Box iOS app or contacting Box support with logs may help.

Thanks for posting! We hope that the information above would help resolve the issue.
