Invited to collaborate on a folder, but when I click “Accept invite” the folder does not show up in my box.

If you have been invited to collaborate on a folder but after clicking “Accept invite” the folder does not show up in your Box account, consider the following possible reasons and resolutions:

  1. Invitation Not Fully Accepted or Email Not Confirmed:

    • You must accept the collaboration invitation either from the email notification or from the Pending Items Manager in your Box account. The folder will not appear until the invitation is accepted.
    • If you do not accept within 30 days, the invitation expires and is removed.
  2. Signed into Wrong Box Account:

    • Verify that you are signed into the same Box account/email address to which the collaboration invite was sent. Sometimes users have multiple emails/accounts, and accepting an invite from one email but logging into another causes this issue. For more details, please see this article.
  3. Folder Owner Removed You as Collaborator:

    • If the folder suddenly disappears, it might be because the owner removed your collaborator access. You would need to contact the owner for re-invitation. 
  4. Check Notifications and Pending Invitations Panel:

  5. Auto-Accept Collaboration Invites Setting:

    • In the future, you may consider enabling auto-accept collaboration invites located in the Box web-app> Account Settings> Sharing tab and scroll down to ‘Collaborating on Content’ and ☑️ Automatically accept incoming collaboration invitations. Enabling auto-accept can help avoid missing folders.
