I am running into a similar issue. I’ve been using the Box desktop app on my Mac for many years. Just recently, it’s not rendering the linked assets in indesign. I’ve always worked this way, and just in the last week it seems to not be able to connect the files on Box inDesign, which causes major delays in how I work. Did something change?
