I've removed enough files to free up storage space, but my account doesn't reflect this. Please help! I've read the posts and it seems this is the only way to fix it.

The issue that you encounter seems related to what is described in this article:
I've ran the script that will recount all of the files and how much storage is being used in your account, so you should now see the correct storage size available in your Box. You should now be able to upload new files into your Box again.
