I now have both of the following:
Locations > Box
Locations > Macintosh HD > Users > MyName > Box Sync
The Box Sync application has been uninstalled, though in the process it appears not to have deleted the folder it was managing. Can I delete it now without consequence, and use only the contents both cloud and local in Locations > Box?

Welcome to Box Community and glad to assist!
Did you uninstalled Box Sync using Box Drive? If so, what you have left is your Archived - Box Sync folder, which contains all items not uploaded to Box.
Meanwhile, if all items are secured and Box Drive is functioning well, feel free to delete your Box Sync folder.
