Why would this be any different from inviting someone who does not have an account yet? I don't work directly with this person, but their email account is active. Shouldn't they be able to set up a new free account?

If their email account is active, they should generally be able to set up a free account unless there are restrictions, such as domain limitations or preexisting account conflicts. Check the invitation process for any specific requirements or troubleshooting steps. Hope this clarifies!
