I'm trying to figure out how to share a document for a real estate transaction and i want it to be NON downloadable, only viewable. Ideally I'd like it to go to specific person or persons and not be available to anyone with a link. Finally I'd like it to expire. I'm having trouble figuring out how to get all of these features here at once.

And when it asks for someone's name or email, doesn't it need email? I'm confused. I want to make sure that the right person is seeing the doc and that they cannot download it. Pls help.

Hi Mark,

Welcome to Box Community and glad to assist!

You may create a shared link exclusively for specified users only and setup its expiration. Note that doing so, they will be prompted to log in to Box.

Here's how:

  • Creating a link to share:

    1. In your Box files view, hover your cursor over the row of the file or folder you wish to share.
    2. On the right, click (Create and) Copy Shared Link

The Shared Link window opens.  The link automatically copies to your clipboard.

As for the access permission, you should set it to invited people only. Doing so will secure that the availability of your contents are for select users only.

  • Invited people only: Only people invited to the folder or file can access the content. Collaborators already have access to their content, but can easily direct one another to a specific file or folder using the shared link.

Meanwhile, to restrict download and enable expiration for your shared link.

Once your shared link is all set. Please invite your colleagues to your file or folder with Previewer access. (https://support.box.com/hc/en-us/articles/360043696854-Inviting-Collaborators)

Hope it helps!
