Hello,

I'd like to do the opposite of what most people use a automated scheduled backup, in that I'd like to backup all files on Box to an external hard drive. This is a request from my boss, so this is what I'm trying to find out.

Is there a way to do this? I can just select files and folders via the desktop app and copy them to the hard drive, but I'd prefer an automated process with incremental backups.

Is this possible?

Hi Amy,

Welcome to the Box Community!

Unfortunately, we do not have a feature that will automate back ups from Box to an external hard-drive.

For any product feature request or suggestions, we recommend you post your idea on pulse.box.com for more visibility. Our product team reviews all submissions and will consider whether to include feedback in their product roadmap.

Thanks for your participation in the Community!

Hi Amy, same question here.

This time because our clients demand it as part of the contract.

Looking forward to seeing this feature happen.

I have the same issue - are there any 3rd party tools that will do this even if I have to invoke  them manually.  Synctoy for example will not copy files in sub-folders for some reason.

Yes - I use sync folders pro on mac.  It's super clunky but seems to work.

I just voted on this:

Thanks - I think I have got Sync toy working  a bit better ( using Echo instead of Contribute ) .  I have to sync each top level folder separately but it is not too onerous as I am not looking at huge volumes/volatility of change in a small charity

Sync folders looks good but I am on Win10

How about configuring Box Sync or Box Drive application to sync the desired files or folders to a local directory that is located on the external drive?
