Any decent File Manager is now having an issue completing the Cloud Box access as it gets stuck on the Grant Access page. There is no way to activate/click the button when you don't have a mouse. This is a new problem. If the user has already gone thru inputting the OS auth code successfully on top of the login creds then WHY do we have to do Grant Access page submit? It's now made using Cloud access Box with any File Manager on Android TV USELESS. It used to work but now a problem.
Hi â
Â
Iâd like to gather more information to better understand your concern regarding access on the Android TV device. Box can be accessed through Box Drive and the webapp via supported browsers/OS versions on desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.
Â
Is your issue related to an integration or custom app? To help us investigate further, could you please send a screenshot of the error by inserting the image in your comment here? When sharing screenshots in forums, please ensure that no personal information is included for security reasons.

Looking forward to your response.
Hi,
The issue has recently come up when using any worthy File Manager to connect, or use an already established saved Cloud connection, on an Android TV device, like Nvidia. I had an established working Box Cloud connection, logged in, to use for storage but now it forces you to do the login again. I performed that. So Authorized, then Authenticate (tested even use Authenticator Code) but the last step expects the User to click the blue Grant Access button on the bottom of the page. The page talks about redirection, shows a URL...sorry try to do this from memory. Without a mouse you canât get out of this page so never successful to complete. This doesnât make sense. Iâve authorized, authenticated but still have to do one more step to Grant. This is unnecessary. It has broken the workflow on the Android TV device. I have no problem using the same Android apps on a Phone or Tablet. Apps used are: FIle Manager, Cx File Explorer.
Update: Attached the Page. Canât get past this point. No selection or scrolling is working on this page. Itâs like static.
So steps again:
Authorize> Authenticate using Authenticator code>new page presented Grant AccessâŚ. as per attached. Canât go further. So I assume if there is a token, it canât complete storing it somewhere but had no problem before like Dec 2024 or Jan 2025 if I remember when I last used.
Hope this helps. :)
Dear â
âGrant Access to Boxâ as what youâre seeing upon connecting Box is generally prompted when users are attempting to integrate a third-party application (in this case, a File Manager) with Box. The prompt is making sure the user understands that the requesting application will need certain levels of permission into the user's Box account.
Â
This is not a Box issue but related to the input method being used with the Android device.
Â
Weâre able to reproduce what youâre seeing and granted access successfully. You may check out the recording here:
Box Android TV Login âââââon an NVidia Shield running SHIELD Android TV 9.1.1
Â
Some Android TVs come with remotes that have mouse or pointer functionality (typically via a touchpad or gyroscopic controls). However, if this isnât available on your current device, you can work around it by using the Android TV's associated smartphone app (same with the recording above). Through the app, you can use the touchscreen to move the cursor and select the âGrant Accessâ button to proceed.
Â
Thanks, and weâre looking forward to have this sorted out.
Ah, so I have to have a mouse to complete. Got it. A shame. Funny I didnât have to use a mouse before say end of 2024 early 2025. So something must have changed with recent app updates. Okay, thanks for the reminder on using my phone as the remote to work around. I forgot I could do that as everything I use on the device doesnât require use of a mouse. Iâll give it a try.
Thanks for testing and confirming my issue. Very helpful!
Cheers
Same problem imposible to fix itâŚ.
Finally fix it

Dear â
Â
To get to the âGrant Access to Boxâ option, youâll need a remote with mouse/pointer functionality or the smartphone app. Iâm so glad to hear you found a solution, and we really appreciate you sharing your workaround using the app as a remote.
Â
Hope you have an awesome day ahead!
