We have multiple companies we support and each one has its own root directory folder. Inside each of these company folders we have similar folders such as Legal, HR, Engineering, etc. And then we have folders inside of them.

When we share the engineering folder with the engineering team, they see simply Engineering as a folder as their root directory and they have access to all files below with inherited permissions. The company folder in which that engineering folder is not shown.

Is there a way to sharing the parent tree folder structure back to the root folder without providing permissions to all nested folders?

Hi Emmett,

Welcome to Box Community and glad to assist!

Folder permission follows waterfall permission. Which mean, if you grant a user access to the folder all nested subfolders will have the exact permission.

I understand the waterfall permissions. However isn't there a way of showing the parent tree structure that a folder is contained in.

ie   If I had the following folder structure    Root > Folder Level 1 > Sub Folder level 2

If I give access to the Sub Folder Level 2. I should also be able to see that folder is sitting in Folder Level 1 which is contained in Root. I would like to see the entire parent tree. Is that a possibility?
